Monarch Recovery Centers Now Accepts Medi-Cal

Expanding Access to Housing, Treatment + Long-Term Recovery

Why Choose Monarch Recovery Centers (MRC)?

Monarch Recovery Centers (MRC) meets the industry’s highest standards for client care and treatment, as evidenced by its accreditation from The Joint Commission and certification from the Department of Health Care Services.  Monarch is entering a transformative new chapter and now accepts Medi-Cal for its Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), ensuring that individuals in Sacramento County can access high-quality behavioral health care without financial barriers.

Monarch Sober Homes (MSH) has also achieved certification from CCAPP and NARR—the state’s highest certification—which is a testament to the ethical and supportive mission Monarch strives to uphold. As a result Monarch has joined Sacramento County’s Behavioral Health Bridge Housing (BHBH) program, expanding residential recovery housing to individuals experiencing homelessness or near homelessness reinstating hope and resources to those who need it most. Through this integrated model, we provide a comprehensive array of services—including safe housing, treatment transportation, Peer Support Specialist guidance, and evidence-based treatment—that promote the health, well-being, and stability essential for fostering long-term healing and success.

Medi-Cal Coverage Makes Evidence-Based Care Accessible to More Clients

For many individuals living with substance use disorder (SUD), navigating treatment costs has been a major obstacle. By accepting Medi-Cal, Monarch opens the door to a full spectrum of clinical services, treatment that is compassionate, structured and backed by evidence-based practice.

Clients with MediCal now receive access to:

  • Monarch’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP):This includes therapy, group counseling, relapse-prevention planning and dual-diagnosis support.
  • Trauma-informed individual sessions:  Private sessions completed with experienced, licensed and certified clinicians.
  • Structured weekly schedules: Designed to help clients rebuild routines and establish positive emotional regulation.
  • Peer-supported environments: This offers connection rather than isolation to create a clearer path towards recovery.

By ensuring that cost no longer blocks someone from receiving help, Monarch strengthens Sacramento County’s behavioral health ecosystem and supports individuals seeking addiction treatment.

Monarch Sober Homes Joins the BHBH Housing Program

Housing instability often makes treatment nearly impossible. By joining the Behavioral Health Bridge Housing Sacramento program, Monarch Sober Homes now extends the same high-quality homes and standards we have upheld for over a decade to individuals experiencing homelessness or near homelessness.

Instead of scaled-down housing or reduced amenities, BHBH residents enter the very same Monarch homes — clean, structured, dignified living environments designed to support recovery and emotional stability. Residents benefit from the consistency, safety, and community Monarch is known for, now made accessible to those who need it most.

Residents who enter Monarch Sober Homes through BHBH receive a stable living environment with structure, accountability, and community support. Every home is substance-free, professionally supervised, and intentionally designed to help residents feel safe and respected. This stability allows clients to begin treatment, reconnect with daily living skills, and build the foundation needed to transition into permanent housing.

Case management conducted by Peer Support Specialists guides residents every step of the way, helping with documentation, Medi-Cal activation, employment readiness, treatment scheduling, and housing navigation. For many residents, it’s the first time they’ve had consistent support from a team that believes in their capacity for true change.

Integrated Outpatient Treatment: Housing, Care + Routine Under One Program

Monarch’s IOP program is available to residents as soon as Medi-Cal coverage becomes active. This continuity, moving from housing directly into treatment, is a defining strength of Monarch’s model.

Clients don’t need to navigate multiple providers, request transportation or figure out the steps alone. Instead, they’re guided through a streamlined process where:

  • Their living environment supports their treatment goals
  • Their clinical team communicates with their house management
  • Their transportation is coordinated by Monarch, either through Monarch or MediCal
  • Their treatment schedule is structured around building consistency and emotional stability

The result is an outpatient treatment experience that is accessible, predictable and effective for people rebuilding their lives from substance use disorder and homelessness.

Transportation Included: A Support Service That Changes Everything

Transportation is one of the greatest barriers for individuals entering treatment programs in Sacramento. Missing appointments can disrupt progress, delay treatment and increase relapse risk. Monarch removes that barrier entirely.

All Monarch Sober Homes residents, including BHBH referrals and Medi-Cal clients, receive reliable transportation to IOP sessions, clinical appointments, benefits appointments, housing navigation meetings and essential services.

This ensures treatment consistency and reduces the stress and instability that can often derail early recovery. Monarch’s transportation services are one of the program’s most significant differentiations and a crucial component of long-term success.

Looking Ahead: Telehealth + Seven-Day Clinical Availability

Monarch’s expansion doesn’t end with Medi-Cal acceptance and BHBH housing – two major improvements that will strengthen access and flexibility are coming soon.

  1. Telehealth Services for MediCal Clients
Monarch will offer remote access to therapy groups, individual sessions and recovery support. This option is ideal for clients with mobility issues, work constraints, childcare responsibilities or health barriers that prevent in-person attendance. Telehealth ensures no one loses access to care during life transitions.
  2. Seven-Day-a-Week Clinical Services
Monarch will soon extend outpatient operations to seven days a week, allowing clients to build treatment schedules that match their needs, not the other way around. This shift creates unprecedented flexibility for individuals balancing work, parenting and recovery.

These expansions reflect Monarch’s commitment to client-centered care and community wellness.
